Make the Koda Cross Body Bag with Jan Lyons

Bag making is a lot of fun and especially gratifying when made with your own handwoven fabric!  You will receive a detailed copy of the pattern and Jan will take you from start to finish to complete your one-of-a-kind bag.  There are no pattern pieces, just measurements for this bag, so the prep is straight forward.  Sewing experience is helpful but can be done by a confident beginner.

Student Materials List

For the bag exterior, you will need a piece of handwoven (or commercial) fabric measuring 12 “x 24”.  It can be in 2 pieces as long as you can create a back and a front each measuring 10-1/2” W by 10-1/4” H.

You will also need a strip 1-1/4”x 8” for your zipper tabs but this can be of another fabric or your lining fabric if you choose.

For the lining, you will need 1/3 yard of 44” wide fabric.

We will be adding pockets to the interior of the bag and there is one exterior pocket, so have enough lining fabric for these three pieces:

Exterior pocket – 10-1/2” W x 10-1/4”H

Interior front lining panel - 10-1/2” W x 10-1/4”H

Interior back lining panel – 10-1/2” W x 20-1/2”H (this includes the pockets)
