Yarn is the basis of weaving. In order to understand how to put yarns together to make a textile, weavers need to understand the characteristics of the yarns. This class is also appropriate for spinners who want to understand more about the yarn they are making and how it can be utilized. These are some of the topics that will be covered.

• Weight/grist
• Twist
• Strength
• Elasticity
Students are asked to bring a few yards of 5-6 different yarns with the labels, if available.
